BLENDED LEARNING IN EFL WRITING CLASSES: VOICES FROM INDONESIAN GRADUATE STUDENTS
Abstract
The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic obligates educators to adapt to the new way of teaching. Online learning platform becomes fresh air for teachers, especially in ELT, to combine offline and online learning to maximize learning goals using the Blended learning method. This study sought to gauge the graduate students’ perceptions of in learning using Blended learning in EFL writing classes at one of the Universities in Indonesia. It is a qualitative study using a purposive sampling technique. Twenty-eight graduate students of the English Education Department from different semesters in one of the universities in Indonesia were selected based on their experiences in Blended learning in the EFL writing class using Blog, Moodle, YouTube, Edmodo, Schoology, Sutori, MOOC, WhatsApp, and Canvas. In collecting the data, the researcher distributed the questionnaire to the participants. The finding of this study reveals that students have positive perceptions in the case of the advantages of Blended learning and negative perceptions in the case of the problem of Blended learning implementation. It also provided suggestions for the implementation of Blended learning. Ultimately, this research suggests future research to focus on Students’ and Lecture engagement and plagiarism issues in Blended learning of EFL writing classes.
